This week we are returning to multiplication facts. By the end of year 2 children are expected to know off by heart their 2x 5x and 10x tables. We know that some of you are beginning to learn these and some of you are learning higher times tables. That is why this week you can see three folders below, the first begins with 2x 5x and 20x tables then x3 and x4, then x6 x7 x8 x9, this allows you to progress if you are finding the previous too easy.
This term we were going to introduce weekly mini times tables tests on Fridays. This might be something you could do on a weekly basis to keep up your knowledge of multiplication facts. Try to find ways to make recalling your facts fun, for example write all the multiples of 5 on the pavement in chalk or on post it notes and stick on a wall, stand behind a line at least ten metres away. Ask a partner to call out a multiplication question such as 5 x 4 then run and touch the answer and run back. You could even include an exercise each time you touch the answer. This will keep you active too!
