Physical Education at Sacred Heart School
At Sacred Heart Primary School we encourage every child to lead a healthy lifestyle and participate in regular physical activity both inside and outside of school hours as well as achieving high standards in performance. In doing so, we aim to change young people’s lives for the better.
It is our intent that:
"all pupils leaving primary school to be physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport".
All year groups use the 'Key P.E Sport' Scheme of work which provides experiences in athletics, dance, gymnastics, outdoor adventurous activities, invasion games, net and wall games and striking and fielding games.
In addition all children follow the 'Real P.E Create' Scheme of work for dance which focuses on the development of agility, balance and coordination, healthy competition and cooperative learning through a unique and market leading approach to teaching and learning in PE.
We also encourage learning other sports not so well known or taught in the curriuclum to develop our skills, such as Gaelic Football, handball and even lacrosse!
