Physical Education at Sacred Heart School

At Sacred Heart Primary School we encourage every child to lead a healthy lifestyle and participate in regular physical activity both inside and outside of school hours as well as achieving high standards in performance. In doing so, we aim to change young people’s lives for the better.

It is our intent that: “all pupils leaving primary school to be physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport”.

All year groups use the ‘Get Set 4 PE’ Scheme of work which provides experiences in athletics, dance, gymnastics, outdoor adventurous activities, invasion games, net and wall games and striking and fielding games.

We also encourage learning other sports not so well known or taught in the curriculum to develop our skills, such as Gaelic Football. Our children are always eager to learn something new, especially when it comes to sport and PE.
